New Moon, New Muse II
Compilations from a Don
Lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice — but it struck the same Don twice.
I had just answered the call from the coast, roaming through streets I once knew but never truly explored. The mission was simple: reconnect. With place, with self, with something I couldn’t quite name.
Then came a new moon. And with it, a new muse.
A new thrill found its way into what had once gone still. When the power went out, our spark came alive. What started as a casual meeting turned into a first date that felt like it had been waiting to happen. Timing has a way of introducing what intention cannot.
I stayed transparent. Honest enough to admit she wasn’t the only one trying to be the only one. She didn’t fight that truth — she just asked that I keep the others out of our conversations. She wanted to feel like the only one. And as a Don should, I maintained the fantasy.
She held my gaze in a world that kept me dazed. The outside noise faded into the background while the moment took center stage. I lost count of how many times I got lost in those moments with her. Each one felt worth remembering. Worth writing. Worth turning into something more than memory.
But life has its own rhythm. It twists when you least expect it. What began with a spark ended just as abruptly. The dates became distant. The presence became absence.
Still, I kept the art.
After she left, I lived with what I took from her heart. And that — more than anything — was enough.
Enjoy loudly. Stay sound.
