The Afro Don

A Don by design

Effortless excellence. A compelling life lived on no one’s terms but mine. Welcome to the Phondeaux experience — where memory becomes melody, and story becomes style.

Where the Journey Begins

Even I’m not sure where the story starts. Childhood feels like fragments, but the things I do now — they started back then. I’ve always been an artist, just not a professional one. At 10, I learned to write raps. At 15, I picked up code and beat-making. It was less about choosing lanes and more about crafting my own path.

Whether I was writing bars, coding lines, or sketching sounds, I was training myself to express what couldn’t be spoken.

Coolest Kid On Campus

In 2019, Wits Vuvuzela dubbed me the Coolest Kid On Campus. But I wasn’t chasing cool. I was just living art. A Computer Science student at Wits by day, and a martial artist by dusk. Publicity Officer for the Wits Tang Soo Do Club. I earned Half Blue Colours for my commitment to the craft. Even when I couldn’t pursue music full-time, I kept the rhythm going — curating playlists, refining my ear, and learning the subtle art of sequencing sounds.

Every moment was a brushstroke. Every beat a memory.

Art That Speaks What I Don’t Say

Some things can’t be said in conversation — so I turn them into art. It’s not about trying to be deep. It’s just how I breathe. Every playlist, every piece of code, every post — it’s from experience. Sometimes the light brings it out. Other times, it’s the darkness that makes it pure. Either way, the art speaks when I can’t.

What’s Next?

The future? That’s just the next artwork. Right now, I’m living it. As co-founder of Krusty Slarce, I’m blending aesthetics with code, crafting websites and hosting experiences that feel like digital art. But this site — this site is personal. It’s the full Phondeaux experience. Memory lane in pixels and prose.

Stick around. There’s more to feel.

Deep Dive in the Moment

Touch My Doncast

Some albums find you when you’re ready. Others arrive when you need saving. Touch My Blood did both. In this premiere episode of Albums for the Ages, I revisit AKA’s genre-bending 2018 album—a project that’s equal parts smooth and scarred.

We explore how this record, drenched in groove and grit, became a personal survival guide through heartbreak, hustle, and healing. Track by track, we dive into the storytelling, the subtle truths, and the enduring legacy of an artist who turned pain into timeless sound. This isn’t a review—it’s a resonance.
