Lovely Deep Dive
Doncast Deep Dives
Where love whispers, lust lingers, and memory learns to feel again.
When Feeling Left, Music Stayed
There was a time when emotion felt distant — like something I could observe, but not touch. Lovely Lust was created in that space. This Deep Dive revisits a compilation born from numbness, desire, and memory, exploring how music became the bridge between what I couldn’t feel… and what I never really lost.
Compilations from a Don
Lovely Deep Dive
There was a time when I couldn’t feel the way I used to. I could remember moments clearly, analyse them even, but the warmth that once came with them wasn’t there. I was present, but distant. That’s when Lovely Lust was created — not from emotion, but from memory and understanding of what emotion used to feel like.
It started with a simple request. A friend needed a playlist — something smooth, something soulful, something that could set the tone for connection. A soundtrack for dim lights and long nights. And somehow, even in that detached state, I was able to deliver exactly that. Lovely Lust became a blend of the lovely in lust and the lustful in love — a quiet tension that didn’t need to explain itself.
At the time, I couldn’t fully enjoy what I had created. The moment didn’t allow for it. Life moved differently, and music didn’t land the same way. But now, in a deeper solitude — one I’ve chosen for myself — I’ve had the space to process. Coming back to this compilation now feels different. It doesn’t take me back to a specific memory. Instead, it feels like it’s waiting for me to create new ones.
There’s a softness to Lovely Lust that I understand better now. It’s in the slow dances, the sweet serenades, the kind of connection that exists fully in the moment without needing permanence. It’s about presence — about letting things be what they are while they are. Nothing forced. Nothing overthought.
If you’re processing what was, or wondering what could have been, this compilation meets you there. It doesn’t rush you. It doesn’t demand clarity. It simply keeps you warm while you figure it out. And maybe that’s what I needed all along — not to feel everything at once, but to let the music guide me back to it, one moment at a time.

Lovely Deep Dive
Lovely Lust is one of those compilations that came to me when I wasn’t fully present within myself. I could think clearly, reflect objectively, but I couldn’t feel the warmth of the moments I was revisiting. And yet, when I was asked to create something smooth, soulful, and intimate — something that could set the tone for connection — this is what I delivered.
In this episode of Doncast Deep Dives: Compilations from a Don, I revisit Lovely Lust from a different place. What was once a detached creation now reveals itself as something deeply intentional. It’s a soundtrack that lives between love and desire, memory and fantasy — and in returning to it, I realise it was never empty. It was waiting for me to feel it properly.
Enjoy Loudly. Stay Sound.

Lovely Deep Dive
Title: Lovely Lust
Project Type: Compilation
Lovely Lust is a slow-burning soundscape that explores the blurred line between love and desire, memory and fantasy. Built on smooth, soulful textures, it’s a soundtrack for intimate moments, quiet tension, and the kind of connection that lives fully in the present.
This episode is drawn from a reflective source document that includes the original Lovely Lust blog post, along with personal reflections and evolving interpretations of the compilation. The source captures a contrast between emotional detachment at the time of creation and a deeper, more present understanding of the work today.
