The Don’s Domain has been live for a year now
A foundation born from a fall I couldn’t control. As much as I saw the run before the play, when it’s out of your hands you can only charge it to the game.
I kicked it all off with a special compilation. That was August 28, 2020. It’s been five years of living with it. Today, I honour it with a sequel. I’m not one to share the vibes in real-time. I usually live with them first, let them breathe, then set them free. But this one? This one’s an exception, not the rule.
It came together during quiet mornings with my pages — reflecting on the game and how it’s changed me. After writing my verse of the day, I compiled a list of songs that carried me through the moments. The trenches have been cold. The damsels left distress. The job market stayed bearish. Getting stoned at rock bottom felt like the sentence.
This one was compiled intuitively. Ten minutes of listening inward produced an hour of sound outward. A blend of hip-hop, afrobeats, dancehall, and a few gems that reminded me of my own design. On first listen, I was reminded — I’m a Don by Design.
