In a time when I was searching for reconnection, I stumbled upon something unexpected—a new connection.

One that set me up for a story only my poetry knows in depth. Ironically, it all began just before a new moon, with a thrill that comes once in a blue moon. Still wandering aimlessly through the dark, I found myself captured by a new muse—one that amused, intrigued, and distracted. My restless spirit found a temporary home, a momentary focus, enough to put my chaos to rest. Nothing was set in stone, but the memories could be.

The nights were reckless in the best way. City lights flickered like distant stars, illuminating fleeting moments that felt more permanent than they should have. The air carried the hum of late-night conversations, blurred between clarity and confusion. There was no need for promises when the present moment was intoxicating enough. The dangers of a damsel’s distress didn’t matter—nobody makes it out alive here anyway. She set her intentions to make the most of a Don’s time, and I let her. We never spoke of the future. Tomorrow was never promised in those days. All we had was the music, the motion, and the moonlight.

Now, all that’s left are the echoes of those nights. The glow of passing headlights, the warmth of her hand lingering in spaces she no longer fills. I don’t know where she is now, and I don’t think I want to. I’m content with the art she inspired. I honoured her in ink, in melodies, in fleeting moments sealed in rhythm. My ink was shy, but now it runs dry. New pages still need to be filled, yet for now, they remain empty. The sky is dark, the moon is new, and I remain somewhere in between.
